Every Big Super Bowl 2014 Ad – Which One Was Best?

As our US friends know, Super Bowl XLVIII took place last night.

Every year the big game is one of the most watched telecasts and this years was no exception with a 47.6 rating / 70 share –making it one of the most watched super bowl broadcasts ever with an average of 111.5 million viewers . For you fans here are the rest of the Top 5: 1. 2013: Super Bowl XLVII: 2. 2011: Super Bowl XLV, 3. 1987: Super Bowl XXI, 4. 2012: Super Bowl XLVI, 5. 2014: Super Bowl XLVIII.
It was also the most viewed live stream of a U.S. sport event.

No doubt the match is a big draw for football fans but for a marketing and media fan like me I only had one question:

What was the best ad?!

The Super Bowl has a long history of big name companies paying top dollar for a spot atone of America’s most popular events. This year was no different and marked the marked the most expensive inventory ever with FOX charging upwards of $4m for a 30 second spot!

Yes Four Million Dollars.

Below you will find every major spot or its extended versions starting with the notable ones.

If you are in marketing or advertising its worth checking out and getting some ideas of your own from some of the world’s leading agencies!

Want more? Here are all the best movie spots and extended trailers from Super Bowl XLVIII.

COMEDIANS IN CARS GETTING COFFEE — SEINFELD REUNION

Seinfeld is my favourite comedy ever so it’s great to see Jerry, George & diabolical Newman back together at Monks – if only for a couple of minutes. Now when is a full reunion gonna happen?!

KIA — THE TRUTH

I’m not sure about this, Isn’t it a bit late to be reference the Matrix?

RADIOSHACK — THE PHONE CALL

Love the 80’s references! Always appreciate a brand that is willing to make fun of its own image.

JAGUAR — THE RENDEZVOUS

Loki, The Mandarin & Sinestro! It’s true Brits make the best villains!

COCA-COLA — IT’S BEAUTIFUL

And now the “controversial” ones. Starting with Coca Cola’s ad of America The Beautiful being sung by a variety of people in different languages. Morons and bigots are up in arms about this. “How dare they sing in different languages?!!!” I wonder why people are so offended by people from different cultures singing about America being beautiful ?. Surely that’s the ultimate compliment?

As Einstein said “The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.”

CHEERIOS — GRACIE

And another one. Jackasses outraged by the campaign’s previous instalment which features a mixed race family. It’s depressing that in 2014 this is still an issue.

SODASTREAM — SORRY, COKE AND PEPSI

And this is the BANNED commercial starring Scarlett Johansson! Don’t get too excited – it’s banned cos Soda Stream took a few shots at Coke & Pepsi. They also probably didn’t expect the fallout over Johansson’s role with Oxfam who disagreed with the Israeli company’s ethics. Either way this is a pretty poor ad.
