How Marvel Studios Built Its Cinematic Universe [Infographic]

Now that Iron Man 3 has come out and posted the second biggest opening of all time domestically and has made a whopping $680m in its first week all eyes are on what Marvel’s cooking up next. But how did they get there?

Empire Online has come up with a cool little infographic which provides a quick summary of how Marvel Studios under president Kevin Feige assembled what is a master class on building a multiple franchises into one mega franchise.

This overview goes through all the Phase 1 films: Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger and big one, The Avengers. Phase 2 is covered with Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, wild shot Guardians of the Galaxy, TV show Agents of SHIELD and culminating in 2015’s The Avengers 2. There’s also a tentative peek at Phase 3 with Ant-Man and some speculation on Dr Strange and Namor. The coolest thing is how it cross references what characters have appeared in what films.
