Talk about synergy. The week Iron Man 3 finally hits theatres; Marvel Studios and Disney have released the first trailer for Thor: The Dark World, the sequel to the $450m+ grossing 2011 hit Thor.
This time round Kenneth Brannagh is out and Game of Thrones veteran Alan Taylor is in (though Brannagh still gets a production credit). The whole cast is back with a few notable additions plus Chuck’s Zachary Levi replacing Josh Dallas as Fandral.
Last time around Thor was the difficult-to-adapt fantastical risky move for Marvel Studios But in the wake of the success of that film and the subsequent Marvel movies, Thor: The Dark World looks like a very safe bet. Now the risky moves are James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Edgar Wright’s Ant Man. Never let it be said Marvel and Kevin Feige don’t take risks!
Check out the new trailer above. We get to see Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster in Asgard plus the God of Thunder visiting London. Somehow I don’t this will be a social call…
