Warner Bros. has released what is likely the final The Dark Knight Rises trailer before the film hits cinemas this July.
Christopher Nolan understands trailers. He gets that they aren’t just abridged highlights of a movie that spoil the best bits but are themselves an art form that have their own natural rhythm and momentum.
This trailer builds upon the last excellent teaser and gives us more of a glimpse of the trials Bruce Wayne will have to face to save Gotham. The team that put it together have done an excellent job.
Here’s Warner Bros.’ official summary:
Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ “The Dark Knight Rises” is the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. Leading an all-star international cast, Oscar(R) winner Christian Bale (“The Fighter”) again plays the dual role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. The film also stars Anne Hathaway, as Selina Kyle; Tom Hardy, as Bane; Oscar(R) winner Marion Cotillard (“La Vie en Rose”), as Miranda Tate; and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as John Blake. Returning to the main cast, Oscar(R) winner Michael Caine (“The Cider House Rules”) plays Alfred; Gary Oldman is Commissioner Gordon; and Oscar(R) winner Morgan Freeman (“Million Dollar Baby”) reprises the role of Lucius Fox.
The Dark Knight was an incredible bonafide 5 star film that transcended everyone’s expectation of a comic book movie. That it wants nominated for a Best Picture Oscar is a decision that still tarnishes the Academy today. Will The Dark Knight Rises live up to its predecessors? It’s an impossible feat but I have faith in Nolan and his team.
The Avengers, Prometheus, a new Spider-Man and the final Batman film all in one summer. What have we done to deserve this?!
– You’ve Given Them Everything.
– Not Everything. Not Yet
The Dark Knight Rises is released in theaters July 20, 2013. Make sure you see it in IMAX if you can!
